Celia focuses her practice on international commercial and investment arbitration, including proceedings involving sovereign states and state entities. She regularly acts as counsel in proceedings administered by the leading arbitral institutions, as well as in ad hoc arbitrations, including proceedings under the ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL, ICDR, CAS, SCAI and CAM Rules.

Her practice includes arbitration support proceedings, including interim measures, recognition, enforcement, and setting aside of awards. She also has experience as a tribunal secretary in commercial arbitrations.

Celia has advised in disputes relating to engineering and construction projects, energy, agribusiness, post-M&A and sports; involving multiple jurisdictions, complex technical issues and high-value claims.

During her LL.M. at Columbia Law School, Celia attended the UNCITRAL Working Group II 82nd Session in Vienna (Austria) as representative for the Center for International Commercial and Investment Arbitration (CICIA). She also acted as legal adviser for the Permanent Mission of Ecuador to the United Nations in New York.

Before joining Wordstone Dispute Resolution, Celia worked five years at a leading firm in Madrid. Previously, Celia had worked for over a year at a boutique firm specializing in arbitration in Geneva.

• Represented a Central American company in an ICDR arbitration relating to a contract for the international sale of goods.
• Represented a European group of companies in four LCIA arbitrations relating to the investment in two Central Asian state-owned enterprises.
• Represented a major Spanish football club in an ICC arbitration arising from a sponsorship agreement entered into with a sovereign wealth fund from the United Arab Emirates.
• Represented two Luxembourg companies in a CAM arbitration relating to a non-compete agreement against a French investor, as well as in the proceedings opposing the annulment of the award.
• Represented the Peruvian subsidiary of a Spanish construction company in an ICC arbitration relating to civil and electromechanical works at a refinery in Peru.
• Represented a Latin American state in the enforcement phase of an ICSID award in Spain.
• Represented the investor in the enforcement phase of an ICSID award in Spain against a Latin American state.
• Represented a group of companies in the oil sector in the recognition and enforcement phase of two ICC awards against Latin American state-owned enterprises in Spain.
• Represented a European construction company in the interim measures phase in support of an ICC arbitration relating to a concession agreement for the construction of a combined-cycle power plant in Africa.
• Represented a European group of companies in the negotiation and execution of a settlement agreement for the enforcement of an ICC award against Spanish companies.
• Represented a Russian athlete in an appeal proceeding before the CAS regarding disciplinary sanctions imposed by a sports federation in connection with doping.
