Jelena Todić

Biography

Jelena advises clients in commercial and investment arbitrations, serving as both counsel and tribunal secretary in large-scale, complex, and often multi-jurisdictional proceedings conducted under a range of arbitration rules. She is admitted to the Paris Bar (2022) and the Serbian Bar (2019), and was educated in France, the United Kingdom, Serbia, and Spain.

Prior to joining Wordstone, Jelena worked in the arbitration team of a leading French law firm as well as two prominent Serbian law firms. She also completed internships at the World Trade Organization in Geneva and at a major international law firm in London.

Jelena is also active in the international arbitration community. She co-founded the Paris Investment Arbitration Group, a Paris-based initiative providing a forum for discussing curated issues in international investment law and arbitration. She is also a member of several prominent associations, including ICC Serbia, CFA40, and ArbCEE.

Recent Experience

  • Represented the Arab Republic of Egypt in HeidelbergCement AG and others. v. Arab Republic of Egypt (ICSID Case No. ARB/21/50).
  • Represented the Arab Republic of Egypt in Gesenu S.p.A. v. Arab Republic of Egypt (ICSID Case No. ARB/20/45).
  • Represented the Lebanese Republic in the annulment proceedings in Abed El Jaouni and Imperial Holding SAL v. Lebanese Republic (ICSID Case No. ARB/15/3).
  • Represented real estate investors in BRIF TRES d.o.o. Beograd and BRIF-TC d.o.o. Beograd v. Republic of Serbia (ICSID Case No. ARB/20/12).
  • Assisted in representing a Cypriot investor against an Eastern European state in an investor-State arbitration involving freezing of investor’s assets and fabrication of tax claims.
  • Acted as tribunal secretary in an ICC arbitration, conducted in Spanish, involving Spanish and Panamanian entities, concerning a construction project in Panama.
  • Acted as tribunal secretary in an ICC arbitration, conducted in Spanish and English, involving Cuban and Canadian parties, concerning beer production in Cuba.
