This distinction reflects the outcome of a research process that places client experience and qualitative assessments at its centre. The Client Choice Report is based exclusively on feedback from corporate counsel, who evaluate lawyers they have instructed across a range of client-service criteria, including the quality of legal advice, commercial awareness, responsiveness, communication, and value for money.
The process begins with an independent survey of in-house counsel, conducted without prior notice to law firms. Based on this initial round of evaluations, the research team compiles country- and practice-specific shortlists. Candidates are then invited to provide client referees, enabling the researchers to conduct follow-up interviews and verify the consistency of the feedback received. Ultimately, only one practitioner per jurisdiction is recognized in each practice area, underscoring the selectivity of this designation.
